MINI Current Meter model SD-30
MINI Current Meter model SD-30 is a
sampling type field current meter which is physically identical to model SD-6000.
SD-30 can be programmed to measure  and record current speed, direction and temperature at programmable intervals ranging from 1 minute to 3 hours.
The instrument is light and portable and can be manually operated from a boat or platform of any size.

Measurements start when the user holds a magnet outside START and GO- marks on the instrument pressure tube.
The data are stored in EEPROM memory and are sequentially presented one by one in physical units from an easily visible LCD- display when the user holds a magnet outside a STEP- mark on the pressure tube.
Although SD-30 can record up to 6000 data sets, the purpuse of the instrument

is to record and display  a moderate number of data sets (around 30) to determine the vertical current profile or the current variations during 1-2 days of deployment in a fixed, moored position. The recorded data are easily read through the transparent instrument pressure tube.
Unlike model SD-6000 no computer is used for programming or data readout.
Only a magnet, a pen and a piece of paper is needed to operate the instrument and record data.
